About the performances of « Bodies of Light » & « Close by, So far – Landscapes of Infinity » by Isabelle Schad – Venue: Sophiensäle, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th of April 2025
On two subsequent nights, first in the front row snuggled up in a bean bag, then seated high up in the ranks near the technician’s desk, Lea Pischke is audience to the double bill “Bodies of Light” and “Close by, So far – Landscapes of Infinity” by choreographer Isabelle Schad. The former stands in a long line of portraits, the latter enters new choreographic territory, yet both work with a unique sense of energy exchange and a highly political form of personhood.

On Friday, 18 October 2024, in a shop front make-shift dance studio run by Tanzfabrik Berlin, artist Daria Iuriichuk launches herself into a catalogue of the sensual exposure of desire, a power trip, a both humorous and serious gazing-game, the unspoken dialogue of “I am in charge and I am flirting with you.” Lea Pischke steps in as audience, performance writer, and other roles this evening.

In “Solo for Boy”, that which might seem at first as yet another take on a group of people who are staunchly keeping their place at the top of humanity’s pecking order, reveals itself as a dance piece with many twists up its sleeve, twists which have the audience wondering why they want to chuckle, and why they might at times awkwardly nod – in disapproval.
